Reduce Construction Waste
30% of waste filling our landfills is construction waste. Building a typical new home generates about 4 tons of waste, most of which goes into the landfill. Visit a typical construction site, and you'll watch dumpster after dumpster being filled, removed, and thrown away.
Greenbelt Homes' Recycling Program saves 80% or more of the construction waste from going into a landfill. Here’s how we do it.
Reduce
Carefully engineered plans reduce the amount of excess materials purchased and shipped to the construction site.
Reuse
On-site reuse further reduces the fuel required in recycling:
Lumber is ground into mulch that can be used on site for erosion control and more.
Concrete, brick, and masonry are ground up and can be reused as a fill on site.
Ground drywall is rich in calcium and sulfur, two nutrients that help enrich the soil.
Recycle
Designated collection areas group everything from plastic water bottles to excess sheet rock and masonry.
