How to Build a Custom Home
This is a general guideline of the step by step process of building a house. Depending on where you are in the process, you may already have your lot, an architect or plans. Not all of the steps need to go in this order and some steps overlap. Our job is to be as involved as you and your family feel comfortable with. The number one goal is to build quality energy efficient homes.
- Locate a home site: We are willing to assist throughout the home site location process. Do you want to be close to the city, lake, or school system? (Eanes, Lakeway, Austin, etc)
- Select an architect: We will help interview architects to find one that has the ability to see what you envision for your perfect home, and can help give ideas for the perfect home without being overbearing.
- Assist in the Design Process with the Architect, you, and your family. You have probably been thinking about your dream house for years, we will meet with the architect to get all of your ideas on paper.
- Create a Budget based on the Design options created and the selections that you make
- Assist in the selections of flooring, countertops, cabinets, lighting, exterior finishes, etc.
- Process plans through City and County Permiting
- Pour Foundation
- Frame and Cornice
- Install Plumbing, HVAC, Electrical, Phone, Data, and Sound Systems
- Insulate
- Sheet Rock
- Install Exterior Siding, Rock, Stucco, etc.
- Install Cabinets
- Trim Interior
- Paint
- Install Countertops
- Install Trim for: Plumbing, HVAC, Electrical, Phone, Data, and Sound Systems
- Install Driveway
- Install Sprinkler and Landscaping
- Complete City, County, and Third Party Inspections
- Complete Final Walkthrough with Buyers and Real Estate Agents
- You and your family move into your new home
